Zoho Analytics: Set Up a Widget Displaying Sales Person
- Category: Zoho
- Hits: 8785
A quick article to display a value in a column in a widget in Zoho Analytics.
Why?
Because I keep forgetting how to do it.
How?
I've done this for a query that amalgamated all the deals against a deal owner and needed to repeat this for all the invoices against a sales person.
It adds to the effect on loading the page that a widget has clearly defined values based on the filters I select on a dashboard.
Zoho Deluge: Generate a loop or list of any size
- Category: Zoho
- Hits: 12369
This is an article on a trick I picked up from one of our interviewees as well as apparently in one of the Zoho documentation manuals. It uses leftpad to create a string of a length, converts it to a list, then lets you generate an array or list of any size.
Why?
My use case here is to run a schedule that will populate a list with the upcoming dates for the next week (and for any numbers of weeks thereafter). This needs to be dynamic as it is a schedule run daily checking the availability of a staff member for the upcoming week.
How?
As mentioned, using leftpad takes 2 parameters, the first is the string to start with, the second is the number of spaces to pad with.
Zoho Recruit: Rollup Number of Recruit Candidates to CRM Account
- Category: Zoho
- Hits: 6081
This is a quick article to note down some code used in Zoho Recruit. This particular bit of code will run on a workflow when a Candidate is modified, and it tallies all the candidates belonging to the same school and updates some number fields on the matched CRM account.
Why?
For reporting purposes. Although Zoho Analytics can use data imported from both ZohoCRM and ZohoRecruit, it was helpful on the CRM record to see how many candidates had been placed at this particular CRM Account. We added several fields which get populated when a candidate was modified in ZohoRecruit.
How?
As mentioned, we're going to update several fields called:
ZohoFlow & ZohoSign: Retrieve a Zoho Sign document request and add attachments to CRM record
- Category: Zoho
- Hits: 12777
This is an article describing a custom function built into Zoho Flow that will accept as parameter the document_id and request_id. It then retrieves the Deal Reference (entered by an office signee) on the ZohoSign document and searches for the relevant Deal record in CRM.
Why?
A client wants that when this field is entered and the document signed and returned, it attached the signed document to the Deal record.
How?
The following is the process from registering the app to call on the full API (grant code > refresh token > access token) and then the code to attach the document to the CRM record.
Zoho CRM / Deluge: Send an email with a CRM Quote using a given CRM template
- Category: Zoho
- Hits: 14824
A noteworthy article in my opinion on how to send a CRM quote record using a template the customer created from a button.
Why?
Yes you can do this already by going to the record, clicking on the ellipsis or three horizontal dots button in the top right and selecting "Send Mail" then selecting which inventory template to use... This is too many steps for some. Instead, we've been asked to create a button that sits on the view page of a record and the staff simply click on and it does all the aforementioned.
How?
The difficult part here was to figure out how to convert the CRM record into a PDF using a customer's template.
Zoho Creator: Populate a Multi-Lookup
- Category: Zoho
- Hits: 8640
This is a very quick article with a code snippet on how I added to a multi-lookup field.
Why?
Using a multi-line or text is possibly a quicker solution and when using a desktop interface, you can parse the multi-line into a nice HTML table. But on a mobile device, it's somewhat better to use the built-in interfaces provided by Zoho Creator.
What I really needed was a way to display the line items from a package slip taken from Zoho Inventory. I'd prefer if it was included in the list view or a Zoho Creator report.
How?
We would think it similar to a picklist/dropdown where you simply add an option to the picklist and then specify which of the options are selected. In this case, simply giving it the IDs should work... but it doesn't.
Zoho Books/Inventory: Trigger a workflow when an invoice has been paid
- Category: Zoho
- Hits: 12906
An article on something that has taken me several days to get working: Get Zoho Books or Zoho Inventory that when an invoice is marked as paid, update 2 custom fields with the Payment Method, and the Payment Date.
Why?
This was requested by a customer and the problem happened in that the workflow would simply not trigger when the invoice was paid. The customer had added 3 custom fields: Payment Method, Payment Date, and Last Four Digits. They needed these because sometimes their customers needed to know what card they had paid with (if paid by card). The customer wanted payment method and payment date to appear on the invoice.
How?
This sounds rather straightforward, write a function that given an invoice, checks the customer payments and updates the custom fields. Executing the function this worked as expected. Now put it on a workflow where the settings were:
- When an invoice is "Created or Edited"
- Execute the workflow when "When any field is updated"
- Filter the triggers when Status is "Paid"
- Just once or every time is "Everytime"
- Actions is a custom function called "fn_invoice_updatepaymentmethod"
ZohoCRM: ZDK Client Script to retrieve Contact Email
- Category: Zoho
- Hits: 15864
An article on one of my first client scripts for ZohoCRM. This retrieves and populates an email field based on when a contact is selected in a lookup field.
Why?
I could do a normal automation/workflow on save of the record, but the client wants the email to be prefilled in the field as soon as a contact is selected.
How?
This needs to behave like a formula field which changes and displays before saving the record. At time of print however, I can't get a formula field to retrieve a field from another CRM record.
